Record heat returns to Southern California after fall-like conditions ended
November 28, 2012
More hot water is on the way to Southern California from last month’s record heat.
The San Gabriel Mountains, which produce an average of 17 percent of the state’s snowfall each winter, will be seeing an average of 20 degrees by Tuesday.
On the Westside, residents of Palmdale could experience no more than an inch of rain during Saturday’s evening storms.
The forecast calls for “a period of moderate to heavy rain and/or snow showers,” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Those conditions could cause roads to be slick.
“With all the rain, there’s a good chance we’re going to see a bit of flooding. When that happens, you get runoff and it can make the roadways quite slippery,” said Michael Shuman, a meteorologist with the weather service.
Although a big drop in the temperature was expected this weekend, Friday’s high is expected to be about 30 degrees.
