Naomi Biden, President’s Granddaughter, Is Wed at the White House
President’s granddaughter on the cover of TIME: “…the nation needed a new president. So we hired a politician whose idea of a good morning is to ask her grandchildren if they’ve thought about the latest issue facing the country.”
The White House has asked me to speak.
President Obama’s granddaughter is scheduled to be here in his honor.
I’d like to share a story that happened to my family in 2011.
I was with my husband, John, and my brother, Dave, on the road from Iowa where they were meeting up with my father, at our home in Dixville Notch, N.Y.
My brother had just finished a trip to Iraq with a small group of soldiers. He had been involved, since the early days, in helping to train and equip Iraqi forces against ISIS. He was here at the house to show us how good they were.
He had left a young man with no teeth, and he was with a couple of other members of the unit. At first the man took offense at being touched and complained that they had taken his things. This set off my brother. He grabbed the man and threw him to the floor.
“You don’t have any teeth,” he told him.
He grabbed the man’s jaw and snapped it around.
“You know what,” he said. “You’ll have your teeth in five seconds flat.”
He had to be restrained for a number of minutes. When he finally released the grip, he had a new tooth.
As he told us this, he described how the man was now a soldier of the United States.
I was on the edge of tears. I knew the value of this man and what he had done for my brother. But, at the same time, it was an injustice to get the worst of our country in his place.
I know for me there’s only one president—of this country.
Here’s what happened to John,
