Despite making his return from a torn ACL on Sunday, Neymar has left the door open for his return to the Brazil squad with regards to future World Cup qualification.

Following Neymar’s injury, FIFA president Sepp Blatter said the footballer would “probably not be in the squad” for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa because of the injury:

“I really hope he’ll be in the squad. We’ll see what happens. He’ll be in contact with me, and I’ll be in contact with him. That’s why it’s important that there should not be too much suffering, but that he is back in the squad” – Sepp Blatter

“I would like to tell him (Brazil’s) president (Marcelo Gleiser) that I have to be sure that he is in good shape, and if he really is good enough, and if there has been no injury, we could do with his return in the World Cup squad” – Sepp Blatter

Neymar is set to miss the next two World Cup qualifiers after Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Colombia on Thursday but said it would be a “big challenge” for him to go in:

“A little loss for us… we would like to make the best of it… I hope I’ll return soon and then we’ll see. I don’t think I’ll be able to represent Brazil in the World Cup [2010] because of the injury.” – Neymar
